Terms for the app
Last updated: 13 October 2026
These are the terms for using the Back in Color app for iPhone. What happens to your photo and your data is set out in Privacy.
Who we are
Back in Color is run by Nik Novak, Ob dolenjski železnici 124, 1000 Ljubljana, Slovenia.
You can write to us at hello@backincolor.com.
Apple's terms
You get the app from the App Store, and Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies to it. These terms add to it. Where the two differ, Apple's agreement comes first. Apple is not responsible for the app or for support for it: we are.
What Back in Color is
Back in Color is a color analysis. Software reads a photo of your face and your answers to a few questions, and works out which of 12 color seasons fits your coloring.
The result is guidance about color. Please keep its limits in mind:
- It is produced by software, from a photo and your answers.
- It can be wrong. Lighting matters a great deal: the same face in lamp light, in shadow or through a filter can give a different result from the one in daylight.
- If you skip the photo, the result rests on your answers alone.
- It is not professional, medical or dermatological advice.
Who can use it
The app is for adults. You must be 18 or over to use it.
What is free and what you pay for
- Free: the questions, the photo check and a preview of your result. The preview shows your undertone and three colors from your palette.
- Paid: your full result. It has your season, a 36-color palette, colors to avoid, and guidance for makeup, hair and details such as jewelry metals and glasses frames.
The purchase
- The full result is a one-time in-app purchase, paid through Apple with your Apple Account. There is no subscription, no renewal and no trial.
- The App Store shows the price in your currency before you confirm.
- What you buy is the result of the analysis you have just made.
Opening your result again
Once you have paid, the result is yours to open again in the app, also without a connection.
- On a new iPhone, or after deleting the app: sign in with the same Apple Account and tap "Restore purchase" on the first screen of the app (it is also on the page with the price).
There are no accounts and no passwords with us. Getting your purchase back depends on your Apple Account.
Retakes
If the result does not feel like you, you can redo the analysis at no extra cost. Choose "Redo my analysis" in your result, then take the photo and answer the questions again.
- If the new result is different, it replaces the old one on your purchase.
- Your purchase can move to a new result up to 3 times. A retake that comes out the same does not use one up.
- After that you can still redo the analysis, but the result on your purchase stays as it is. The app tells you so before you start.
Refunds
Apple handles payments and refunds for purchases made in the app. To ask for a refund, go to reportaproblem.apple.com. If Apple refunds a purchase, access to the result ends.
If your result did not open after you paid, write to us first. We will help you get it open.
Your photo and your data
The app asks before it uses your photo, and you can skip the photo and use your answers only. What happens to the photo, what we keep and who else handles it are set out in Privacy.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of Slovenia, without taking away any protection a consumer has under the law of the country she lives in.
